Being one of the two teams to go out on a group of four, we were rather excited from the time our temporary itinerary was made. Before applying for fellowship, all four of us had different friend circles. This opportunity gave us a chance to be friends who would support each other for an all out journey lasting more than forty days with ‘only’ these friends. As for the plan to fix the itinerary, we had our Train Tickets reserved from day 1 to day 42. That was our benchmark by which we decided where to explore. We had the arriving date and the departure date from an area and decided the rest after talking to the locals, seniors and google baba!
As our team name suggests, we did had some crazy and extreme experiences over the journey like searching for accommodation for more than two hours, eating cuit a la vapeur ‘Ant’ Maggi in the serene and beautiful mountains of Meghalaya after being hungry for many hours and then realizing what we did actually ate!! We also had our first casualty with a pair of shoes ‘missing’ on the very first train from home, even before meeting up with all other members. We learnt how to file a police complaint after losing a smartphone, as it would not have been the case as our parents would have helped us.
We covered more than 9500 Kilometres of land and rivers. Visited more than 12 states and going to upto 17000 ft above sea level. We started off from the economic capital, Mumbai and ended up in nation capital, Delhi over a span of 43 days.
Explorer’s Fellowship gave us something unique. Something that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. To see the real world, to face the challenges and gave us a maturity that we think is invaluable. We learned how to spend a long time alone with only three along with us. We had our share of tussles and fights but we learned how to cope with them. Fellowship gave us another gift as we learned how to make friends with unknown persons. Anyone of us never travelled much in our past, but were able to appreciate what travelling means actually. All of us were in love with travelling and are ready to make some plans whenever we get the chance.
When we set out for the Fellowship we were Kids but when we came back, we were Adults.
