Agog Yatrikans

It seemed like a dream come true for all of us – to one-day travel the length and breadth of India and we were all really excited about it. I am pre y sure everyone was waitng for these days to start from the day we had come back home. Our theme was UNESCO world heritage sites and it meant discovering and exploring various places which had something more to them that meets the eye compared to the other tourist locations.

Our plan was set from day 1 to day 42, with all our train tickets having been booked. Having literally traveled the borderline of India, these 42 days had been a joy trip and a valuable teaching session for the four of us. We knew the trip wouldn’t be smooth and it sure wasn’t, where everyone had their own share of discomforts and problems, some individual and some collecve but at the end of the day we did cross all obstacles to accomplish what we had to do and make this trip the most memorable one in our lives.

Our trip started from the temple town of Puri where we visited the sun temple. We then had a long hard journey towards Gangtok, which involved us taking a 27 hr long RAC reserved train journey followed by a 4hr jeep journey through the mountains with an unexpected rain. But the hardships we faced to get there, was worth seeing the scenic beauty of the north-east. We then traveled to Darjeeling through the Darjeeling Himalayan railways, probably one of the oldest railways in India, built during the me of the Bri sh. We then headed towards the ci es of Delhi and Agra, where we witnessed the architecture of the Mughals through the structures they made, Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Humayun’s Tomb to name a few. We then headed north to then hill station of Manali, a 12 hr journey from Delhi where we explored the enchanng mountains and its terrain. We then came back and explored the city of Chandigarh, known for its planning style and uniformity in structure. We then visited the pink City-Jaipur,Aurangabad-the city of gates where we visited the famous Ellora Caves which have stood the test of me, the financial capital Mumbai. We then traveled to Goa to visit the churches of the place, where Chris anity had spread its roots in India and the mesmerizing beaches, the car ride made the days very memorable. We then onwards to Hampi, India’s largest archaeological site and the world’s second largest, where we got the chance to explore the ruins of Shri Krishnadevaraya and his dynasty on bicycles. We then headed further south towards Mysore, Bangalore and shortly after that we were on our way to our last and final stop to cochin from where we got the chance to witness the backwaters of Kerala. And thus end our wonderful 42-day trip which we would have never completed or enjoyed to the fullest if even one of our teammate was absent. The every street, place we have roamed with carrying backpacks on back had a unique attachment with us and gave us a life me memory to cherish. This trip has also made our bondings so strong and willing to make more plans to travel whenever we get

We feel very lucky to be part of this unique program explorer fellowship of IITGN. We had explored and came to know the rich heritage of India in every aspect and started loving our country more than before.
