Theme: Beyond the Shoreline: Stories from the fish-folk across India
We explored different shorelines from Varanasi to Rameshwaram (Tamil Nadu) and from Guwahati to Goa. Every day on the road was a hassle and when there is tranquility wafting you from that din as it did in Khonoma, Vembanad Lake, Dhanushkodi shore and at the bridge away from Siolim, things come to a still. Through a seven week long jaunt the team has come together and moved apart, communications had hit an impasse and things/people were left behind, but in hindsight this expedition changed the way we looked at the waters that surround us. We have learnt intricacies of living next to the waters; we have understood fishing as a craft and the perils that decimate their life even in the absence of a storm. But there are the unspoken things, observations, emotional states, recognitions and companionship, those that made the landscapes sublime. If Catamaran looked back, it returns to these people fore grounded against the stunning landscapes, Catamaran returns to them for the truth that their lives exuded.
