Today we feel very happy and satisfied for having applied to the Explorer’s fellowship. This is because of the numerous experiences, conversations, and memories we had during the trip. It was indeed a very great learning experience to travel and talk to people and know about their culture/lifestyle/practices.
Our stay in Longwa village in Nagaland is unforgettable. There was no electricity for the whole night we stayed. They offered us opium, cigarettes, wine, beedi. We were shocked to hear that the village was being ruled by the king and the king has 45 wives and 200 children. They still go for hunting. There is no family planning. Longwa is the border of India and Burma. Here the people have dual citizenship. We were shocked to see head hunters here. There are only 8 head hunters left now. Their body was tattooed. They offered us wild rat meat and wild dog meat and they also said that they store these wild animals meat to serve the guests.
We have been to 12 different states with each state having a contrasting culture compared to other. We choose places having maximum diversity in their lifestyles – from metropolitan cities to remote tribal villages.
