Theme: Handicrafts and Street Food across India
Our theme was handicrafts and street foods across India. We tried our best to explore various hand-crafted items and tasted different street food across the country. We established that both of them depend highly upon multiple factors such as location, tradition, culture, climate, raw materials available, terrain, crops cultivated, etc.
The rulers and emperors greatly influenced it from different parts of the world from time to time. Oil, ghee, cottage cheese, and butter play a significant role in these delicacies. Some dishes are improvised overtime, while others are still served in their authentic form. There are many other factors which directly and indirectly affect the tradition and culture of a place. The handicraft of a region is also affected by manufacturing practices used. While the Arabic and Mughal traditions influenced the northern part of the country, southern India reflects the French, British, Portuguese culture to some extent. Barring this, each place has its own integral ancient cultural flavor.
