Masala Chaai

Theme: Tea, Coffee and Spice plantation

States and Union territories covered:

Almost all of us love to sit and drink a cup of tea or coffee with our family, friends and office colleagues. Also, without spice, how one can even imagine the delicious dishes. So, inspired by these thoughts, we planned to explore Indian tea, coffee and spices, their variety and markets. We visited several tea, spices and coffee shops, parks, gardens and factories. We went to ‘Chai La’ shop in Pune that claimed to invent the first Tandoori chai and tasted it. Moreover, we also tested the Matka chai of Hyderabad. As we visited the tea factory of Thalapuzha, we gained the knowledge of entire life cycle of tea leaves from field to our cups. After visiting another tea factory, we saw the processing and packaging of tea. We also visited a spice shop which was more like a factory; a lady who worked there explained the medicinal aspects of the spices. Correspondingly, we visited oldest tea estates in India that was the Happy Valley tea biggest biodynamic (organic farming) tea producer in the world. Explorer’s to us was like, a huge glass of a sweet and sour lemonade. Life gave us lemons that we drank merrily.
