Like all other children, we also had dream of traveling to lots of places but we never got an opportunity. IIT Gandhinagar’s explorer program gave us this wonderful chance to make our dreams come true. The two of us set forth to traveling to six states of India during six weeks to explore not only the vast diversity in culture, people, weather and food of our country but also ourselves.
In Kolkata, we visited Eden Garden, Howrah Bridge, Bada Bazaar, etc in the crowded local buses. In the night we took a bus to Siliguri, where we had booked a hotel for a day. Next morning, after breakfast and little rest we left for Darjeeling in a shared taxi. Trip to Darjeeling was one of our first interaction with mountains, cool breeze, and tea gardens and we went crazy after seeing them. After spending a few hours there and clicking hundreds of pictures we returned to Siliguri.
When we returned back after 42 days, we were not the same as we were when we started our journey. We were more lively, confident, optimistic and matured after this trip. We also gained the confidence of our family members, who were not at all ready to send us on this trip all alone.
