We started booking our tickets the day after results were announced. For us, the journey had already started in our minds. We also booked hotels at most of the places where our stay was scheduled. As everything was pre-planned, if we were to miss a train then it would create a domino effect. So we had to be very careful about providing the gap in between the reserves train tickets.
Jaisalmer was our first destination where we started out in the scorching heat of May and then headed out to Kuldhara and witnessed Rajasthani traditions and cultures Following Delhi we went to Amritsar and witnessed the Wagah Border ceremony. In Varanasi, we found the photo of our friend, Aditya at Blue Lassi Shop where tourists leave their photo as some memorabilia. Aditya had the chance to stick the photo in the previous edition of Explorers Fellowship. We were lucky to witness an IPL match at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Our next destination was Gangtok and then we went on to Guwahati as a transit stop to visit Meghalaya- the abode of clouds.
Munnar is a famous hill station in the western ghats of India. Till then we were out of our budget so we had the pleasure of exploring the city on foot. Next day we went outside during the night and visited the spice and chocolate market. Kerala and Munnar especially are very famous for its spice plantations.
While taking the train to Goa from Kozhikode we felt an uneasiness. Explorers were finally coming to an end and we were growing nostalgic day by day and our minds went into recollection mode. It was a bittersweet moment to realize that this awesome and unique journey will come to an end soon.
It was a very happening, interesting and exciting summer for both of us. As we were writing this we experienced nothing but a strong feeling of nostalgia and wished that if possible we would love to embark on this life-changing journey again. We are extremely proud to be a part of this institute which has given this unique opportunity to its students. Most of the people were not able to believe that such program even existed. We felt proud each and every time that happened.
