The key is not the will to win... everybody has that. It is the will to prepare to win that is important.

A Journey from

Fear to Confidence

Manatees, a bright and hardworking student from a joint family in Eastern India, had always been a topper. Winning awards, topping school exams, and cracking JEE in her first attempt had become a part of her story. Having come  to IITGN, she was ready to give her best to this new chapter of her life. However, soon after joining the campus, things started to feel different. For the first time, she was away from her family, her comfort zone. Managing her day-to-day routine alone, handling academics, weekly quizzes, exams, and the competitive environment started taking a toll on her mental peace.

She, who had once believed in herself so strongly, now began to doubt her own abilities. She slowly slipped into unhealthy habits — skipping meals, staying awake till late nights, revising just before exams, disturbed sleep, and comparing herself with others. The result? Her grades dropped in two consecutive academic assessments.

From being a school topper to struggling in quizzes, Manatees started fearing failure. The very thought of exams, quizzes, and assignments triggered anxiety and stress. She would overthink, feel restless, and ultimately lose confidence.

How Help Found Its Way to Her

A casual suggestion from her roommate turned out to be life-changing — “Why don’t you talk to the Counselling Psychologist at IITGN?”

With hesitation but hope, Manatees booked her first session

Role of the Counselling Psychologist: Guiding the Path with Care

Through multiple sessions, the expert first created a comfortable and safe space for Manatees to express herself freely.

The next step was to work on specific areas like:

Finding Herself Again

  • Slowly and steadily, Manatees started feeling the change within herself. Her fear converted into focus. Her anxiety melted into action.

  • The result? She cracked the semester exams with a remarkable CGPA.

  • Even more beautiful — her confidence and peace of mind returned. Today, she’s not just doing well academically but also becoming a source of motivation for others on the campus.
