We started our journey from Amritsar (Punjab). In Amritsar, from the peace and serenity of beautiful Golden temple to the loudness of cheering crowd from both side of Wagah border, we got some amusable experiences on the very first day of our journey. Also the delicious Punjabi food gave some boost in it. After Punjab, we went to Himachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand. We saw there what we call the real beauty of North India. The road transportation at these places were very dangerous but the drivers were equally well trained. There is no word to describe the amazing view which we saw in between the routes. We also visited many Buddhist monasteries there. It was good to see the way people there respect each other’s culture. Then, we went to North-East part of India (Darjeeling, Guwahati and Meghalaya). These places of India are mostly unexplored but the time we spent in North-East is unforgettable. When we visited Meghalaya we felt like we were in heaven. The green mountains, beautiful water falls and the roads covering with fogs were the some best part in Meghalaya. From the wettest place on earth to the Asia’s cleanest village, there were so much to explore in it. And we also spent a night in a village near to Bangladesh border. The experience of living in hut at this village was good. After that, we went to Kolkata and Odisha. Then we entered in south India. In south India, we went to three states Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. From Tipu Sultan palace in Mysuru to backwater and beaches of Kerela south India travel gave us some unforgettable memories. Finally, we end our journey in Goa. It was raining there at that time but we enjoyed a lot there. We saw forts, churches and many beautiful beaches there. After all Goa is known as the beach paradise of India.
In these six week, we covered almost 12 states and traveled more than 10000 KM through trains. Initially, when we started our journey we were little bit nervous but after going further we became more stronger. The excitement level were always high as it was the first time we were travelling this long with just two other friends. It was fascinating to see how India is united despite of having so much diversity in culture. Other than the experiences we got at all places, we also got much more experience in between the journey. Sometime we made wrong decision and lost in paths but the way we got out these situations was itself an amazing experience. Train journey also taught us how to make new friends and how to spend a night at railway station. Before starting our journey we were not much confident but now we feel like we are grown ups. Overall, this journey was unforgettable with great experiences and some beautiful memories. We finally thank IITGN for giving us this opportunity.
