  • Why choose an e-Masters from IITGN?
    Embarking on an e-Masters degree journey at IITGN offers you a multitude of benefits, including academic excellence, distinguished faculty, cutting-edge facilities, interdisciplinary learning, industry engagements, placement support, and a robust alumni network.   • What is the difference between a traditional Master’s program and an e-masters programme?
    The regular master’s programme is designed to prepare candidates for diverse requirements of tomorrow, focusing on the acquisition of adaptive skills, often referred to as “Learning to Learn”. In an e-Masters degree programme, that aspect is also there, but the main emphasis is on confidently absorbing and applying emerging technologies in real-life situations. In this context, the primary skill set is technical in nature.

  • Is this programme UGC-approved?
    As an Institution of National Importance, IIT Gandhinagar operates with autonomous status conferred by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). Though this program is an online degree program, it is an officially approved program within the institute’s charter. The UGC/AICTE guidelines do not apply to this program. The program and degree are and will remain valid.

    • What are the terms of access to the recorded video lectures for the e-Masters degree programme?
      Access to the recorded video lectures will be granted for a limited duration, exclusively upon request to IITGN-X. The purpose of videos is to assist the candidates in comprehension of the course content. While accessing and clicking on the video lecture link, the candidates agree not to share, download, or distribute the content without prior approval from the institute.
    • Should I consider the content of the recorded video lectures as professional advice?
      No, the content presented in the recorded video lectures is solely for educational purposes and should not be interpreted as professional advice or guidance.
    • What is my responsibility regarding the use of recorded video lectures?
      It is your responsibility to use the recorded video lectures responsibly and solely to enhance your learning experience for the course.

    • What measures should I take to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of the recorded video lectures?
      You are responsible for upholding the confidentiality and integrity of the recorded video lectures, ensuring they are accessed solely by authorized individuals.

    Application Questions

    • What are the application requirements?

      Energy Policy and Regulations
      Bachelor’s Degree or a Master’s Degree in the relevant discipline (Engineering/ Economics/Law/Commerce/Management/Finance, etc.) with a minimum of 60% marks or 6.0 (on a 10-point scale) or 2.5 on a 4-point scale.
      No GATE qualification is required.

       

      Data Science for Decision Making
      A graduate degree in a relevant field, such as (Statistics/ Mathematics /Computer Science/ Engineering/Technology/ Science/ Economics/Commerce) with a minimum of 60% marks or 6.0/10 CPI.
      Candidates must have taken Mathematics in grade 12.

      Composites
      Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Applied Mechanics, Nuclear, Automobile, Mechanical, Civil, Naval, Aeronautical, Material Science, Textile, or related disciplines with at least 60% marks (or a 6.0/10 CPI).
      No GATE qualification is required.

    • What other supporting documents are required?
      Please ensure that you upload a copy of your bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in the relevant discipline, 12th-grade mark sheet, any relevant work experience documents (if applicable), along with any other supporting documents, and your resume when submitting your application.

    Programme Fee

    • What is the application fee for an e-Masters programme?
      The application fee for e-Masters is ₹1000 (One thousand only)

    • What is the required payment to block the seat in e-Masters programme?
      Upon your selection in the e-Masters Program,
      For EPR a payment of ₹1,20,000 (INR One Lakh Twenty Thousand Only)
      For DSDM a payment of ₹1,50,000 (INR One Lakh Fifty Thousand Only)
      For Composites a payment of ₹1,20,000 (INR One Lakh Twenty Thousand Only)
      must be made within two weeks to secure your seat. The remaining balance of the fee can be paid according to the schedule provided on the program page.

    • Is the Application fee refundable?
      No, the application fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.

    • Is it possible to withdraw from the e-Masters degree program and receive a refund after the program has started?
      In rare and unexpected situations, such requests may be considered with relevant supporting documents and prior approval from the Director.

    Admission Process

    • How will the candidates be selected?
      Admission is generally offered on the basis of an interview which is supplemented by a written test if necessary. The final selection is mainly based on academic performance, written test and/or interviews, and professional experience.

    • What is the duration of the e-Masters degree?
      It is a two-year degree programme.

    • Am I eligible if my scores in both my 10th and 12th grades are below 60 percent?
      Yes, applicants with less than 60% in 10th or 12th are eligible to apply for an e-Masters Degree. However, it is important to note that a minimum of 60% marks or a 6.0/10 CPI in their Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree is required to be eligible for the e-Masters Degree programme.

    Minimum Residential Requirement

    • What does the minimum residential requirement include?
      The candidates enrolled in this program are expected to spend a minimum of 30 days on campus, which would enable them to experience campus, obtain hands-on learning through lab sessions, network with experienced professionals, and complete any in-person evaluations. Candidates, who intend to stay on campus for durations longer than 30 days, would be suitably facilitated for the same.

    • How much is the duration of the minimum residency requirement?
      Minimum 2 weeks in a year (Total of 30 days in 2 years).

    • Who will manage the boarding/lodging during the campus visit?
      Accommodations will be arranged for participants at IIT Gandhinagar during their campus visits.

    • Are there any extra charges associated with the minimum residential requirement?
      The campus visit fee will be as per actuals.

    Program Delivery

    • What is the delivery format for each course?
      The courses would integrate synchronous and asynchronous modes of learning. The schedules are designed such that the live sessions would be conducted over the early mornings, late evenings or weekends, suited to the schedules of working professionals. These live sessions would be complemented by the self-paced learning components (reading material and recorded videos), helping the professionals to learn at their disposal.

    • What is the schedule and timing of live interactive sessions?
      The exact schedule for the live interactive sessions for each course will be disclosed closer to the commencement of that course.

    • What is the passing percentage of marks for the e-Masters courses?
      The examinations fall under the preview of the instructor. Throughout the e-masters degree, continuous assessment will take place (encompassing assignments, quizzes, presentations, etc.) in virtual mode.

    • Is there any attendance policy?
      The attendance policy may vary from one course to the other and will be at the discretion of individual course instructors. In genuine cases, instructors may permit absences, provided prior intimation is given for planned events or a valid reason is presented in emergencies.

    Curriculum and Evaluation

    • What is the programme structure?
      The 2-year programme is divided into 4 modules (EPR) and 6 modules (DSDM and Composites). This programme has a set of Foundation courses, Core courses, Leadership and writing courses along with two Capstone Projects.
    • What are the Graduation requirements?
      To successfully graduate from the e-Masters programme, a student must have completed
      Energy Policy and Regulations: 52 credits,
      Data Science for Decision Making: 54 credits
      Composites: 58 credits
      and settled all the dues to the Institute and have no unresolved disciplinary matters on their record.

    • What is the grading policy?
      At the end of the module/semester, the evaluation of a student is done by awarding a letter grade in each of his/her courses by the concerned Instructor-in-Charge, considering his/her performance in the various examinations,quizzes, assignments, laboratory work (if any), etc.
      The letter grades and their numerical equivalents on a 10-point scale (called Grade Points) are as follows:

    In addition, there are letter grades I, P, which stand for Incomplete, Pass,respectively. The credits with grade P are not counted in SPI/CPI calculation. The SPI/CPI at the end of any semester shall have the maximum limit of 10. In case the SPI/CPI calculation shows the grade point value more than 10, it shall be limited to 10 points.
    The letter grades E and F both are considered as fail grades; a student will have to repeat/replace the course in which he/she gets a fail grade.

    • Who will conduct the session?
      All sessions will be conducted by IIT Gandhinagar faculty. Industry experts and professionals  may be invited to share their valuable insights and experiences.

    • What if I miss an online session?
      If you happen to miss a session, you will have the opportunity to access and view the recorded video of that session. 

    • What kind of infrastructure is required for accessing the  digital learning format?
      You will need the following infrastructure during the e-masters programme:
      Device: A Desktop/Laptop/Tablet/Smartphone with camera and mic.
      Internet: A regular broadband/wifi connection or a mobile 4G/5G connection.
