Pre-Submission

Foreign students from all backgrounds may apply for full-time postgraduate or doctoral program.
Register on the Study in India (SII) Portal.
Note and retain your generated 15-digit SII Unique ID.
This ID is mandatory for completing the IITGN application process.

Application Submission

Portal: Apply via admissions.iitgn.ac.in.
Discipline: Separate applications required for each discipline.
Application Fees: None.
English Proficiency: No scores or certificates required.
Documentation: Online only; no hard copies.
Alternate Platforms: Applications through the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (iccr.gov.in) also accepted.

After Submission

Upon successful submission, a confirmation page will display your application number.
Kindly save a PDF copy for your personal records. A confirmation page with your application number will appear.
The admissions process will proceed as follows:
Review: Applications undergo a discipline-wise review.
Evaluation: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a virtual interview or test. This assessment serves as the basis for admission and fellowship eligibility.
Notification: Successful applicants will receive an official offer letter.

International students who hold Indian passports (regardless of their country of residence), Persons of Indian Origin (PIO), and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) must apply through IITGN’s regular master’s and PhD admissions process.

Important Dates

The application submission deadline for the semester starting in July 2026 is April 20, 2026. The second cycle of application acceptance will be announced soon.

Fee Structure and Financial Support

Multiple fellowships with monthly stipends and reduced tuition for MTech and PhD programs are available to international students. Apply for the fellowship while submitting your application through the admissions portal for review by the selection committee.

Candidates admitted to the MTech and PhD programs must enroll in credit-bearing courses during the Summer Term (mandatory). Enrollment during the Winter Break is elective.
