The credits earned at one Institute shall be shared with the partner Institute based on the following scaling factor:
- 1 credit earned at AIT =1.5 credits at IITGN
- 1 credit earned at IITGN = (⅔) credits at AIT
The total credit requirements for the programme are 48 credits at AIT and 80 credits at IITGN, which will be calculated based on the credit-sharing formula above. While the program offers a lot of flexibility in terms of choosing courses, admitted students will be assigned a faculty adviser to assist them in course selection.
Students in the AIT-IITGN double Masters programme with IITGN as the admitting Institute may exit the programme and opt for change of programme to the Postgraduate Diploma of the Institute (PGDIIT). The credits required to be completed for the award of PGDIIT will be 32 credits (IITGN), which includes credit earned at IITGN and credit transferred to IITGN by AIT.
On successful completion of requirements of the programme, students will be awarded a Master of Technology (MTech) degree by IITGN and Master’s degree (Master of Engineering or Master of Science, depending on the specialization) by AIT.
IITGN’s MTech degree (including the double degree with AIT) is approved by the Institute’s Senate and recognized by statute in India and across the world. Our MTech students have pursued employment in industry as well as higher education in India and several countries in North America, Europe, and other regions of the world.
