Before You Arrive: Pre-Onboarding Essentials

Once you receive an offer of admission or confirmation of participation, we recommend starting the following preparations:

Visa and Immigration

  • Using the IITGN offer letter, apply for the appropriate visa at the nearest Indian Embassy.
  • Master’s program students must apply for a Student Visa, and doctoral program students must apply for a Research Visa.
  • Ensure your visa is valid for the full duration of your stay.
  • Keep digital and physical copies of your passport, visa, admission letter, and travel tickets.

Health and Insurance

  • All enrolled students are covered under the Institute’s student medical insurance policy during their stay.
  • We recommend carrying any personal prescriptions and relevant medical documents with you.

What to Bring

  • Passport-size photographs
  • Original academic transcripts and degree certificates
  • Proof of fee payment or funding support (if applicable)
  • Personal essentials suitable for a warm climate

Arrival and Onboarding

After arriving on campus, students complete a set of onboarding steps supported by the Student Affairs, Academic, and International Relations teams.

Registration and Documentation

  • International students staying in India for more than 180 days are required to register on the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) portal shortly after arrival.
  • The Institute provides guidance and institutional documentation required for FRRO registration.
  • Mandatory institutional and government records are completed with support from the Student Affairs Office.

Hostel Check-In

  • All international students are provided on-campus accommodation.
  • Rooms are furnished with essential furniture and shared amenities.
  • Students are advised to check into their hostel before completing other formalities.

Campus Access and IT Services

  • An official IITGN ID card is issued after registration and is required for access to academic buildings, hostels, library services, and campus facilities.
  • Institute email and Wi-Fi access are enabled during registration or orientation.
